Walkathon

Join our July Walkathon from Moose Jaw to Ormiston this summer.

To celebrate Canada’s 150 birthday and rediscover our roots we are organizing a walk and a get together in Ormiston.

On Tuesday, July 25th we are setting off on a walk from Main Street Moose Jaw to the town hall in Ormiston.  We expect to arrive in Ormiston about 1 PM on Thursday, July 27th.  That afternoon we will be holding a come and go party at the town hall.   It is expected walkers will shuttle back and overnight at Moose Jaw or camp at Oro Lake the night of Tuesday, July 25th and Wednesday, July 26th.  The logistics of the walk are very flexible. Walker’s may decide to try hike the entire distance.  They may decide to hook up with the group anytime over the two and half days.  Walker’s may decide to walk to Cardross or Crane Valley or Oro Lake or to the farm rather than to Ormiston.  Perhaps others would rather ride their bike.  The idea is to create a fun event for all who have a connection to the district of Ormiston, Saskatchewan.  A loose outline of the journey.

9 AM to 4 PM, Tuesday, July 25 – Moose Jaw to just north of Conn’s

9 AM to 4 PM, Wednesday, July 26 – Next leg to about Schumacher’s Hill

9 AM to 2 PM, Thursday July 27 to Ormiston

1 PM to 5 PM, Thursday July 27 – Ormiston town hall social

We have set up a fundraiser with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Donations can be made directly via this link: Click Here

Walkers also have pledge forms with them.

Back in 1967, a few of the boys from Ormiston took on a centennial project and walked from Ormiston to Moose Jaw.  They all have signed up for this summer’s 83 KM (52 mile) hike.  (See photos)  It used to be 60 miles but the road now has fewer curves and does not bypass through CFB Moose Jaw.  So get on board, the walk is shorter than it used to be.

Register for the walkathon today or let us know if you will attend the social at Ormiston Hall on July 27th

‘Upon receiving your information, we will send out more information about the walk.
