Welcome to Ormiston, Saskatchewan 2017 - Canada 150

Canada 150

It’s Canada’s 150th anniversary this July 1st.  Many of you might recall Canada’s Centennial year.  The year 1967 was celebrated in cities large and small throughout the nation.  Infrastructure projects and celebrations were as large as, Expo 67 in Montreal to as small as, the renewal of Oro Lake regional park.  Ormiston had its own celebrations with parades, festivals and school celebrations.  The video below captures some of the local activities in 1967.

This July as Canadians commemorate this sesquicentennial year they will be glancing back at the accomplishments of the young dominion and ahead to the future potential.

Ormiston was an active and bustling little town in 1967.  In 2017, the era of a local school, rail lines, a salt plant and Main Street for Ormiston have ended.  Scroll through this site, enjoy the look back and then consider joining Ormiston and district folks sometime over the week of July 24th, 2017 as we celebrate 2017 with a Walkathon from Moose Jaw to Ormiston and a gathering at the Ormiston Town Hall on Thursday, July 27th.  This is the day before the Crane Valley High School reunion on July 28th to 30th.  Check out the Walkathon and CVHS School Reunion tabs on this site.  There is also a tab on the 2012 Ormiston Reunion.  Hard to believe it’s been 5 years since that event.
